Kay EMBEE
Shwmae, ymwelwyr! Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Kay Embee.
Well, that’s my pen-name, at least.
The name “Kay Embee” is a play on my initials (K.M.B.)—the name felt fitting for someone like me, who loves turning simple ideas into something a little more creative.
I’m a South Wales girl, born and bred. Unfortunately, I am not a fluent Welsh speaker (Dw i ddim yn siarad Cymraeg) but I like to think I’m decent at writing in English.
I’ve been writing stories for as long as I can remember, creating my own “books” by scribbling pictures and words onto pieces of paper (stolen from my dad’s printer) and stapling the pages together to create my own “novels”. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved the idea of both writing and illustrating.
English Language and Literature has played a massive part in my education; I studied these subjects for my GCSEs and A-Levels, before eventually choosing to study English & Creative Writing at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Since graduating in 2021, I’ve gained hands-on experience across a variety of fields, including content writing, editing, graphic design, and marketing. You name it—I’ve probably done it in one form or another.
But I always knew I wanted to be a storyteller, more than anything else.
Writing has always been my true passion—the one constant in everything I’ve done. Crafting characters, building worlds, and making people go “What happens next?!” is what keeps me going… so, that’s what I intend to do!
